Members of the Rutgers Community:
We are just days away from welcoming the members of the reaccreditation team representing the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. They will be here at Rutgers from Sunday, March 9, to Wednesday, March 12.
Led by Provost Jim Maher from the University of Pittsburgh, the team will spend time on the Camden, Newark, and New Brunswick campuses. While much of their time will be spent in meetings, the team members will also walk our campuses and speak informally with members of our university community. I encourage anyone approached by a member of the accreditation team to speak candidly about the university’s strengths and challenges, particularly as they relate to the focus of our institutional self-study: enhancing undergraduate education and improving the way we assess our progress.
Accreditation is essential to our success and growth as an institution, as well as being a requirement for gaining research grants and student aid, so Rutgers has approached this process with the utmost seriousness.
