Members of the Rutgers Community:
It is my great pleasure to join Board of Governors chair Ralph Izzo in congratulating and welcoming Dr. Robert L. Barchi as he prepares to become the 20th president of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The Boards have made an outstanding choice; Dr. Barchi will be a dynamic and visionary leader for Rutgers at an incredibly exciting time in our nearly 250-year history.
As you can read in the university announcement of his appointment, Dr. Barchi brings to our university a proud record of achievement as president of Thomas Jefferson University and as former provost of the University of Pennsylvania. This success, combined with his distinguished scholarly and clinical work in neurology, will serve our university exceedingly well as Rutgers continues to advance to the highest ranks of public research universities.
While there are vital things to accomplish in my remaining time as president, I look forward to working with President-designate Barchi on a very positive transition of leadership. I am eager to welcome Bob and his wife, Dr. Francis Harper Barchi, to the Rutgers family.
Richard L. McCormick
President
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey
