Vice President for Institutional Research and Planning

September 26, 2003

Members of the Rutgers University Community:

Paul Snyder, vice president for institutional research and planning, has announced his retirement from Rutgers effective January 1, 2004.

Dr. Snyder began his career at Rutgers in 1984 in the Office of Institutional Research and Academic Planning. He left the university in 1988 and accepted a position at the New Jersey Department of Higher Education. He was a founding staff member of the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education before returning to Rutgers in 1995 to become director of institutional research and planning, a position he held until 2001, when he was appointed to the vice presidential post.

During his career at Rutgers, Dr. Snyder was a member of the President’s Cabinet, Administrative Council, and the University Senate. He coordinated the university’s academic strategic planning process and its regional accreditation processes, and worked closely with state and federal higher education agencies. He also had responsibility for university computing for two years.

Dr. Snyder has accepted a position as vice president at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, where he will be responsible for planning and institutional performance. We will miss his level-headed advice, his integrity, his enthusiasm for Rutgers, and his firm grasp of higher education issues. We wish him the best in his new position.
