A Very Positive Middle States Visit

March 13, 2008

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education team has concluded its visit to the university after three days of meetings with the Rutgers community. The commission will make its determination on reaccreditation in June, but the team was very impressed with Rutgers.

In the exit interview, the team commented specifically on the candor and thoroughness of our self-study report, on student and faculty enthusiasm for recent changes in undergraduate education, and on our commitment to academic priorities while managing state funding cuts. We anticipate that the team will report no findings that will negatively affect our progress toward full reaccreditation.

Hundreds of women and men in the Rutgers community contributed to the self-study and ensured that the team had a productive visit, and we are deeply grateful to all of you. The efforts of the past two years, and the universitywide dedication to making Rutgers better, fill us with enormous pride in the remarkable faculty, staff, and students of this university.
