Members of the Rutgers Community:
Congratulations to Coach C. Vivian Stringer and the women's basketball program on the team's stellar season. What a year the Scarlet Knights had: winning the Big East tournament championship against UConn, pulling out a thrilling victory over top-ranked Duke, and reaching the NCAA basketball championship game for the first time in school history. Their incredible postseason run brought pride to everyone at Rutgers and throughout New Jersey.
In tribute, I encourage you to wear scarlet on Thursday, April 5, and join us at ceremonies saluting the team. Coach Stringer and her players will arrive at Old Queen's on the College Avenue Campus at 12:30 p.m. We will greet them and celebrate their accomplishments as they ring the Old Queen's bell.
On Thursday evening we will again pay tribute to the team at 7:30 p.m. at the Louis Brown Athletic Center, also known as the RAC (doors will open at 7:00 p.m.). I urge everyone to attend these events as we honor a team whose players gave us reason to cheer hard for Rutgers.
Again, congratulations, Scarlet Knights! In front of a national audience, your talent, teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship made us all proud.
