Register to Vote by October 18

September 28, 2011

Dear Rutgers Students:

The political process needs you. Issues you care about, including tuition rates, job prospects, and health care, are determined through that process. For that reason, I encourage you to register and vote. On November 8, every seat in the New Jersey State Legislature is up for election. Make your voice heard on the issues you care about by registering to vote—and then voting.

If you are a citizen of the United States and will be 18 years of age before Election Day, you are eligible to register for this election. The deadline to register in New Jersey is October 18, 2011. Please remember that if you are a residential student and want to vote in your campus community, you must be registered with your current campus address.

To register in the state of New Jersey, download a registration form at www.njelections.org/voter-registration-application.html. For more information on how to register on campus and off campus, voting by mail, and voting outside of New Jersey, visit ruvoting.rutgers.edu.

Completed voter registration forms can either be placed in the mail or dropped off at one of the following locations:

  • Camden: Impact Information Booth, Campus Center Lobby
  • Newark: Newark College of Arts and Sciences Student Governing Association (NCAS-SGA) Office, Paul Robeson Campus Center, Room 317
  • New Brunswick (Douglass Campus): Eagleton Institute of Politics, Ryders Lane
  • New Brunswick (College Avenue Campus): Rutgers University Student Assembly (RUSA) Office, Rutgers Student Center, Room 438

Registration forms will be accepted at all of these locations until 2 p.m. on October 18. All registrations must be postmarked by October 18.

To confirm your registration, call 1-877-NJVOTER (1-877-658-6837).

For further information, contact Elizabeth Matto at the Eagleton Institute of Politics (ematto@rci.rutgers.edu) or Harini Kidambi of RU Voting (hkidambi@eden.rutgers.edu).

Politics matters in the lives of Rutgers students. You can't exercise your right to vote if you aren't registered. Take this important step—register by October 18.
