Register to Vote by October 13

October 6, 2009

Dear Rutgers Students:

The eyes of the nation will be on New Jersey this Election Day as we are one of only two states to hold an election for governor this year. I encourage you to play a part in New Jersey’s future by voting on November 3.

If you are a citizen of the United States and will be 18 years of age before Election Day, you are eligible to register for this election. The deadline to register to vote in New Jersey is October 13, 2009. Please remember that if you are a residential student and want to vote in your campus community, you must be registered with your current campus address.

Visit http://ruvoting.rutgers.edu to download a registration form, get instructions on how to register on campus and off campus (including information for students residing in the Crowne Plaza Hotel), or learn about obtaining an absentee ballot. Once you have completed the voter registration form, either place it in the mail or drop it off at one of the following locations:

  • Camden: Impact Information Booth - Campus Center Lobby, or NJPIRG Office - Campus Center, Lower Level, Student Leadership Lounge
  • Newark: NJPIRG Office - Robeson Campus Center, Room 303
  • New Brunswick (Douglass Campus): Eagleton Institute of Politics - Ryders Lane
  • New Brunswick (College Avenue Campus): NJPIRG Office - Rutgers Student Center, Room 405

Registration forms will be accepted at all of these locations until 2 p.m. on October 13.

All registrations must be postmarked by October 13. To confirm your registration, call 1-877-NJVOTER (1-877-658-6837).

For further information, contact Elizabeth Matto of the Eagleton Institute of Politics (ematto@rci.rutgers.edu) or Caryn Miller of the RU Voting Coalition (carynm@eden.rutgers.edu). I urge you to make your voice heard in New Jersey’s upcoming election; register and vote this Election Day.
