Register to Vote by October 12

September 22, 2010

Dear Rutgers Students:

Election Day is Tuesday, November 2, and I encourage you to participate.

Our nation and our state continue to face significant challenges, and the best way to make your opinion known is by voting during this midterm election. Every seat in the U.S. House of Representatives is up for election, and there are a number of local elections across New Jersey.

If you are a citizen of the United States and will be 18 years of age before Election Day, you are eligible to register for this election. The deadline to register to vote in New Jersey is October 12, 2010. Please remember that if you are a residential student and want to vote in your campus community, you must be registered with your current campus address.

To register in the state of New Jersey, download a registration form at www.njelections.org/voter-registration-application.html. For more information on how to register on-campus and off-campus, voting by mail, and voting outside of New Jersey, visit ruvoting.rutgers.edu.

Completed voter registration forms can either be placed in the mail or dropped off at one of the following locations:

Camden: Impact Information Booth, Campus Center Lobby

Newark: Paul Robeson Campus Center, Room 219

New Brunswick (Douglass Campus): Eagleton Institute of Politics – Ryders Lane

New Brunswick (College Avenue Campus): Rutgers University Student
Assembly (RUSA) Office, Rutgers Student Center, Room 438

Registration forms will be accepted at all of these locations until 2 p.m. on October 12.

All registrations must be postmarked by October 12. To confirm your registration, call 1-877-NJVOTER (1-877-658-6837).

For further information, contact Elizabeth Matto of the Eagleton Institute of Politics (ematto@rci.rutgers.edu) or Bobby Irven of RU Voting (rirven@eden.rutgers.edu). Make your voice heard! I urge you to register now and vote this Election Day.
