November 6 Election

November 1, 2007

Rutgers Faculty and Staff:

As you know, Tuesday, November 6, is Election Day. This year you will have the opportunity to choose the members of the New Jersey legislature who decide crucial issues that affect the future of our state and our university.

You will also be asked to vote "Yes" or "No" on four public questions: the use of sales tax for property tax relief; the issuance of a $450 million state bond for grants to fund stem cell research projects at institutions of higher education and other entities in the state; the issuance of a $200 million bond to buy and preserve land for open space; and a change in wording used in the State Constitution referring to individuals deemed to lack the mental capacity to vote. These are important issues that deserve your serious consideration.

The website www.njvoterinfo.org—published by Rutgers' Eagleton Institute of Politics—has current information on the candidates and public questions to help you make an informed decision.
