Members of the Rutgers Community:
With appreciation for all he has done for Rutgers, I regret to inform you that Jeffrey Apfel, senior vice president for administration and chief financial officer, will be leaving Rutgers next month to become the chief operating officer for the law firm of Ropes & Gray in Boston, Massachusetts.
Jeff has been an exemplary member of my cabinet who has shown strong and effective leadership on some of the most important initiatives of my administration, including the Committee on Efficiency and Entrepreneurship and the redesign of the College Avenue Campus. However, this new position will provide him with enormous personal, professional, and family opportunities, and I know he will be a great success.
I am happy to announce that Bruce Fehn, associate vice president for finance and associate treasurer, will fulfill Jeff's duties on an interim basis while we conduct a national search for a permanent replacement. The management of the Office of Administration and Finance, as well as major initiatives that are in Jeff Apfel's portfolio, will continue uninterrupted under Bruce's leadership.
Please join me in wishing Jeff well as he leaves Rutgers and in offering our support to Bruce Fehn as he assumes this important interim position.
Richard L. McCormick
President
