Members of the Rutgers Community:
Dean Felissa Lashley, who has headed the Rutgers College of Nursing for more than five years, has informed us of her decision to return to the faculty at the end of the 2007–08 academic year.
Under Dean Lashley’s leadership, the College of Nursing has enjoyed significant growth in enrollment in both the undergraduate and graduate programs, including, this year, the highest enrollment ever in the Ph.D. program. It has also launched a new Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. These achievements have helped to address the severe nursing shortage in New Jersey as well as the severe shortage of nursing faculty.
External support for research has grown substantially during Dean Lashley’s tenure, and the college has attracted many excellent new faculty members. The College of Nursing has taken fullest advantage of both information and patient simulation technologies to enhance teaching. A new nursing facility on the New Brunswick Campus is under construction. And while guiding all of these projects, Dean Lashley has maintained an impressive record of scholarly publication and research.
We are grateful to Dean Lashley for her dedicated service and for all that the College of Nursing has achieved under her leadership. Please join us in congratulating her on her accomplishments and wishing her well as she returns full time to research and teaching.
Sincerely yours,
Richard L. McCormick
