Members of the Camden Campus Community:
As we prepare to launch a national search for the Camden provost, I am pleased to announce the formation of a search committee whose members are drawn from the Rutgers community as well as the public, private, and nonprofit sectors of the state of New Jersey. Alan Tarr, a professor of political science on the Camden Faculty of Arts and Sciences and director of the Center for State Constitutional Studies, has graciously agreed to serve as chair.
During the coming weeks, the committee will select a search firm with proven success in the recruitment of prominent and effective leaders in higher education. At that time, the committee will advise the university community of the process for encouraging candidates for this university leadership position. In the course of its work, the committee will also solicit the views of the campus community concerning the qualities and characteristics the new provost should possess.
I would like to thank the members of the search committee for agreeing to participate in this important task. Let me also restate my thanks and admiration for Margaret Marsh’s continued excellence in leading the campus as interim provost.
Sincerely yours,
Richard L. McCormick
President
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey
