Appointment of Vice President for University Relations

September 1, 2004

Members of the Rutgers Community:

It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Kim Manning-Lewis as Vice President for University Relations. This promotion, approved by the Board of Governors, recognizes Kim for the exceptional leadership she has provided as executive director of university relations for Rutgers since November 2001. Recent achievements under her leadership include the launch of the New Faculty Traveling Seminar, the establishment of the Friends of Rutgers advocacy network, the production of the recent economic impact report, the coordination of the Constituency Research Project, the reorganization of University Relations, and the enhancement of Rutgers Day in Trenton. Kim also has provided invaluable direction in media relations and university communications. I have the greatest admiration for all she has done for Rutgers in her 16 years of service to the university.

An alumna of the Rutgers Business School-Newark and New Brunswick, Kim has risen through the ranks at Rutgers since first joining the university's Office of Television and Radio as a producer/director. In her new position, she will continue to serve as a member of my cabinet and will oversee advocacy programs, campus information services, community affairs, creative services, media relations, and strategic communications.

I hope you will join me in congratulating Kim on this well-deserved appointment. For more information on Kim's promotion, see the press release at http://urwebsrv.rutgers.edu/medrel/viewArticle.html?ArticleID=4097.
