Members of the Rutgers Community:
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of John B. Wolf as Interim Senior Vice President and General Counsel, effective July 1, 2012. He will step into that position when Jonathan Alger leaves the university to become President of James Madison University in Virginia. Mr. Wolf’s many years of outstanding work for Rutgers and his exemplary service as Jonathan’s deputy make him uniquely qualified to serve in this capacity.
Currently Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Mr. Wolf has played a lead role in managing the legal affairs of the university and in representing Rutgers’ interests in a variety of areas, including academic and student affairs, employment and labor relations, public and legislative affairs, commercial transactions, compliance, and litigation. He has also been a guest lecturer on legal issues in higher education on a regular basis in courses offered by the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Management and Labor Relations, the Graduate School of Education, and the Rutgers-Newark School of Law.
Before coming to Rutgers, Mr. Wolf was in private practice, specializing in K-12 education law and public sector labor law. He is active in professional associations locally and nationally, including the National Association of College and University Attorneys and the American Bar Association’s Section on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar, whose Accreditation Committee administers the law school accreditation process. Mr. Wolf is a graduate of Vassar College, where he was a member of its first coeducational freshman class and where he later served on the Board of Trustees. He received his legal training at Emory Law School.
Please join me in welcoming John to his new role and to the leadership team at Rutgers.
Richard L. McCormick
