Appointment of Director of Intercollegiate Athletics

February 26, 2009

Members of the Rutgers Community:

I am delighted to announce today that, after a national search and with the approval of the Rutgers Board of Governors, Tim Pernetti has been appointed director of intercollegiate athletics for the New Brunswick Campus. He will report directly to me and will begin his service at Rutgers on April 1.

Mr. Pernetti, a Rutgers graduate and former member of the Scarlet Knights football team, is executive vice president for content at CBS College Sports Network, formerly College Sports Television. In addition, he has been the color commentator for the Rutgers Football Network and host of the Greg Schiano radio show. He has a deep knowledge of collegiate sports and great familiarity with Rutgers and the state of New Jersey.

I want to thank the members of the search committee, led by Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Philip Furmanski, and the many people in the Rutgers community who met with the finalists and offered their input.

Tim Pernetti is ready to work with our coaches and athletics and academic support staffs to further the tradition of excellence that has been established by our student-athletes on the field and in the classroom. He is committed to achieving the four goals that the university has established for athletics: the academic success of our student-athletes, a program of complete integrity, progress toward budgetary self-sufficiency for intercollegiate athletics, and success on the playing field. He has a proven record of accomplishment and will be a terrific addition to the university community.

Please join me in welcoming Tim Pernetti back to Rutgers.
