Members of the Rutgers Community:
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jaishankar “Jai” Ganesh, associate dean for administration and executive education at the University of Central Florida’s (UCF) College of Business Administration, will become dean of the Rutgers School of Business–Camden.
Dr. Ganesh will assume the deanship on August 1, 2010. Professor Rayman Solomon, dean of the Rutgers School of Law–Camden, will continue to serve as interim executive dean of the professional schools until that time. Dr. Gene Pilotte continues in his role as vice dean.
An exceptional administrator and scholar, Dr. Ganesh has sharp insight into the academic and experiential rigor required of successful business schools. He has built a record of achievement in developing the programs that allow a business school to prepare its students well, to foster external business growth, to promote innovative faculty research, and to extend the reputation of the institution.
At UCF, Dr. Ganesh revamped the Executive Development Center’s programs, resulting in increased enrollment and a surge in revenue from $300,000 to more than $3.5 million during a five-year period. He designed a new budget model to help the business school address weakening levels of state support, and crafted a policy to support the teaching and research needs of full-time faculty. In addition, he established an Office of Corporate Partnership and Career Management to help graduate students secure placement opportunities.
Dr. Ganesh’s research focuses on marketing management and international marketing strategy. His work regularly appears in such leading journals as the Journal of Retailing, the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the Journal of Product Innovation Management, and the Journal of International Marketing. Dr. Ganesh has received several teaching awards, including the UCF College of Business Faculty Excellence Award for Graduate Teaching and the UCF–Teaching Incentive Performance Award.
Jai Ganesh received his Ph.D. in marketing and international business from the University of Houston, where he also earned his MBA. Dr. Ganesh holds a bachelor’s degree in instrument technology from the Madras Institute of Technology at Anna University, and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the Loyola Autonomous College of at the University of Madras, both in India.
We applaud the excellent work of the search committee, led by Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Margaret Marsh and Dr. Carol Kaufman-Scarborough, associate dean for undergraduate education at the School of Business. We are confident that Dean Ganesh will help the Rutgers School of Business–Camden take its rightful place as a premier center for education and business development in our region and the nation. Please join us in welcoming Jai to Rutgers.
